He was a top CEO lives in public housing? Influencer Marketing

Image
Last week I was hiking and started chatting with another hiker like I normally do. It turns out the hiker I met had been the CEO in one of the top conglomerates in Hong Kong. This man had become an influencer, but what happened.  What happened to this man who had become an influencer? He had been well connected and invested all his retirement in stocks. After he retired all his connections faded away, and all his stocks list value in the last crash. Now he lives in public housing – terrifying. That is a terrifying prospect, isn’t it? In the Gig economy most folks who start a Gig for side cash want to prevent that kind of terror. I know I’ve been up and I’ve been down, and it feels a lot better to be up. Back in 1996, my Intercultural Training mentor  in San Francisco, Todatsu Imahori who was from Japan. Todd, (his USA name) shared some important po...

This morning, reader told me I was starting a controversy by feeding stereotype biases. I explained the difference between culture value preferences and stereotypes and reviewed some of what I wrote yesterday. You see, very few content marketers adjust their copy for different cultures. Many content marketing writers just write according to their own cultural preferences. If culture shock is so powerful, doesn’t it make sense to adjust for cultures values and preferences in your content marketing? Doesn’t it make sense your adjustments could make a powerful, positive impact? After reading my blog yesterday, a prospective client asked me about my post on adjusting LinkedIn posts for different cultural preferences. He asked why different cultures use English in such different ways. You see...
