Today we are combining our Success Skill with Small Business Success Step-2. Know your clan and build them up. The 5 Steps so you can build your small/side business to the next level and experience your optimal income.
Step-1. Begin inexpensive digital marketing(Yes, for local small businesses too.)
Step-2. Know your CLAN and build them up.(Get to KNOW THEM WELL.)
Step-3. Automate and outsource to streamline processes to reduce wasted activity and space.(Think Disney or McDonalds.)
Step-4. Scale your business.(E.g. A local bakery can sell an online eBook of Recipes and Ideas for Entertaining.)
Step-5. Enjoy your small business optimal freedom lifestyle.(Your goal is a 4-Hour Work Week.)

You shouldn’t have to “guess” to earn a nice lifestyle from your passion.

It’s about love and happiness with your business clan, so you can raise your business to the next level and live your optimal lifestyle.
The other day my mentor client, Jerry said, “This process took my business to the next level and I’m enjoying my customers and life much more now.”
Although, some of my clients don’t want to “play” with their clan, most of my clients have come to truly appreciate and enjoy spending time with the people who make them successful.
Like most all coaches, I offer a risk-free (and keep the bonus eBook) coaching consultation to see if we can coach together. But rarely do my consultation clients believe they can up their business and enjoy their optimal lifestyle, at first. Once they see how the system works, most all ask why they hadn’t done this before.
The thing is, you don’t need me as your coach, because you can do it yourself with a good process. When you look under the hood of effective small businesses and check out what they’re doing, you’ll see… They’ve simply taken the LUCK out of the supporting your business and clan game.
There’s little to NO GUESSWORK to their work and the systems they’re profiting from day in and day out. They DO LEARN and APPLY proven, time-tested business models!
As I mentor and coach my clients to develop and implement processes to ensure their business can run itself, there is a risk they can become indifferent and get bored.
Instead of becoming indifferent and getting bored, you will learn how to stop being the parent and become a kid. The kid in you can spend time to enjoy their business clan and learn to enjoy your business again.. Isn’t this one of the reasons you chose to make your passion into a small business?

Exercise #16: Asking for what you need.

What ways can you relax and stop being an adult (even for a few hours) and taking care of your small business clan and just enjoy them to get your and their needs met?
Examples of ways my mentoring/coaching clients like to just “be a kid” with their clan. (If you didn’t notice, these are awesome ways to learn about clan needs too.)
  1. My boutique gym owner client likes to go exercise with her “Bestie” clients 2-3 times a week.
  2. A digital marketer client of mine schedules “Hangouts” with his regular clients and friends to chat about their engagements online.
  3. My client who is a a specialty bookshop owner likes to “hang around” his shop on Sunday mornings and talk “books” with his customers.
Write 3 ideas that could let you be a kid with your business clan customers.

Look at this list and implement 1 (only one at a time) of these this week:
  1. Write your “be a kid” goal
  2. Declare to yourself: what when, where, who, how, and why
  3. Make it happen
Debrief: The point here is to get over your own “NO, I can’t,” response and acting like a kid in  your own small business.
If you are looking at this exercise and saying, “this feels awkward,” that is good. The important part is you will get used to it, as your life, family, and business depend on it.

NOTE: If you don’t learn to be a kid and enjoy your clan and small business, you may soon join the 80% of small businesses that fail within the first 5 years!

Engagement background of Optimal Engagement Lifestyle
As a trainer and university lecturer in the USA, I had great success in my coaching, training, and classrooms by engaging my learners in ways I had learned from my Dale Carnegie Instructor Training. (optimal engagement)
After earning my Doctoral Degree researching engaging instruction in adult education and training and development, I started a training business in Hong Kong.
But something was wrong, I was struggling in this new culture (I’m a cattle rancher’s son from Colorado, USA) to find ways to inspire and motivate my coachees and students in Hong Kong.
With my coachees and in the classroom, I preferred having clients engage in learning activities instead of just talking. This is especially effective to keep clients engaged between coaching calls.
I struggled through trying several paper worksheets and workbooks to guide students, but I wasn’t getting the results I wanted. (junk engagement)
When the smart phone with the ability to search the internet came along, I could see my clients were curating (i.e. searching, finding, collecting, commenting, changing, remixing, and sharing.)
I thought, “Why not do that for learning?”, so I started asking them to answer questions, interact with information and colleagues, and go find examples of the learning content using their mobile devices.
eWorkbook development and success
I began searching for possibilities and I struggled testing several apps, until we created best practices using eWorkbooks, and after testing them, began to use eWorkbooks as my clients always had their devices with them.
Then we used eWorkbooks (Google Forms with the training slides as well as interactive questions, curating links and tasksexample images and videos, etc.) This became powerful for my coaching clients as they were able to share ideas and get the benefits of social learning even though they were not in the training course or classroom.
My clients [Engaging Screenagers] completed eWorkbooks using their mobile devices as they were learning interactively while, at the same time, they were developing habits of learning with their devices (optimal engagement) instead of killing time with them. (junk engagement)
Students used eWorkbooks to while I lead the discussion and guided them, and after they submitted their answers, they would get their responses sent to their inbox so they could review their learning Moments of Growth(optimal engagement)
Because the students’ responses from eWorkbooks go right into a spreadsheet in real-time, as the teacher I can monitor what students are doing to give them guidance in the moment, as well as track their learning develop over time.
Since those early days, I’ve had great luck supporting my coaching clients and entrepreneur friends use Google forms for 360° reviews for evaluations as well as use eBrochures and eMenus to test new ideas and actively engage and actively interact with customers.
